Political ads are notorious for spawning parodies, sometimes even parodies of themselves. I know you have to laugh to keep from crying, but I’m not sure whether that means we have a healthy republic or not. Let’s split the difference and call it comic relief.

On paper at least, Mitt Romney is a perfect candidate. He has the same fidelity to his positions as John McThusela. He’s as moderate as Richard Nixon and has nice hair. In fact, if you ignore the fact he’s a complete goob, the only thing wrong is that he’s a Mormon.

The Occupiers vs the Tea Party, Who Wins the Battle of Perceptions?

There’s a lot of rumination over Occupy Wall Street and its growing raft of branch offices. Depending on your rhetoric, The Occupiers are doing righteous battle with corporate greedheads and associated serfs. The right sees them as a gold brickers who want to lynch Fortune 500 CEOs, crooked politicians, and their assorted Tea Partyish fellow travelers. It doesn’t matter if a person’s perception is right or wrong, it only matters they have it.

Parody Canceled, Crackpot Rabbi Blames Earthquake on Gays

I had planned a parody post today. The basic idea was simple: Fundamentalist crackpot, Pat Robertson, would announce that yesterday’s east coast earthquake and coming hurricane were caused because of “teh gays”. However, a real pronouncement ruined the whole thing, except that instead of a brain-addled Christian bringing the “funny” a Rabbi harshed everyone’s mellow.
